I get asked quite a lot about what pushed me to create The Scale Modellers Supply and the short answer is because of the love of scale modelling and the ability to create beautiful pieces of art from a bunch of plastic and some paint. I began building models when I was young by first starting with a model train set and then moving on to plastic model kits. My first two train sets were Christmas presents from my Grandparents (Dad's parents) when I was very young, 3 or 4 years old from memory. I recall that my Grandfather (Mum's father) built the layout for me to play with before he passed away. I loved that train set but as I grew up, I lost interest and then the layout was pulled apart and then the train set was sold. I then got an aircraft kit (a Tomcat from memory)...

Consistently moving with the times and adjusting how our site looks and operates is always at the forefront of our minds here at SMS HQ. It has been a couple of years since we upgraded our website to the Shopify platform with a fancy new theme attached to it. That theme and layout that has served us well for the past couple of years was starting to look dated and multiple hobby sites were starting to use the same theme which we started to feel like we were 'samey'.So, we took the time last week to get stuck into redesigning the layout and theme of our website to make it more visually appealing and easier to navigate with a heavy focus on the home page for directing viewers to our stockist page. When I started The Scale Modellers Supply in early 2016, I had plans in place for where we wanted to be at certain milestones for our little company. So now in October 2020, comparing against the original timeline plan, we are about 2 years ahead of where I thought we would be. When Covid took hold and lockdowns were enforced, the resulting spike for demand has resulted in where the 15m square work space we have is now too small to meet the growing demand for our products, even more so that we are supplying stores in the US and the UK now as well as 45+ stores across Australia and New Zealand.  On October 21st 2020, I collected the keys to our new factory space.
