The Scale Modellers Supply (SMS) wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born at a workbench.
Founded in 2016 by Scott Taylor, SMS is the culmination of a lifelong passion for scale modelling. Scott’s journey began like many others—with model trains as a toddler—but evolved into a pursuit of technical perfection.
A Legacy of Community & Competition
Before SMS became a household name in the hobby, Scott was a central figure in the Australian model building community. He was a founding member and the original driving force of Gunpla Builders Australia, helping to establish a platform for modellers to connect, share, and grow. While he eventually stepped away from that role to focus his full attention on developing the SMS product range, that same community-first spirit remains at the heart of the company today.
Scott’s expertise is backed by a decorated competitive history that spans multiple genres. Beyond his well-known victory as the 2013 Australian Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC) Champion, which saw him travel to Tokyo with his model to compete in the GBWC World Finals, his work has consistently earned top honors across the country, including multiple Category wins & placings at the Australian Model Expo, Scale ACT, SA Model Expo, QMHE, NSW Scale Model Show, and more including high-level accolades in Military, Sci-Fi, Mecha, Animals and Automotive categories, proving the versatility of the products he now creates.

After years of contributing to the community through his (now defunct) YouTube Channel tutorials, Scott recognized a gap in the market for a high-quality, local paint brand that prioritized the modeller’s experience.
We believe that the joy of modelling should be in the building and painting, not in struggling with chemistry. Our signature Premium Acrylic Lacquers were developed with a "Pour & Spray" philosophy. By providing airbrush-ready paints straight from the bottle, we’ve removed the guesswork of thinning ratios, allowing modellers of all skill levels to achieve a professional, durable finish every time.
