Australian Made

Australian Made

We've had lots of conspiracy theories thrown at us over the years regarding the origins of our paint products.  From rebottled products from another brand to importing from overseas, we've heard some whacky tin foil hat level theories by people who truly have no clue.  So when we say we are Australian Made, we are Australian Made. Our raw materials come from a manufacturing partner based in Sydney and our bottling and labelling are done at SMS HQ in Ballarat, Victoria.  Recently, we applied for Australian Made certification. To pass their rigorous checks, we had to provide them with a full breakdown of where our materials are sourced for our paint lines, how they are packaged and labelled along with photographic evidence of these processes as well. We were granted the license to use the Australian Made logo on February 13th 2020 for all of our Acrylic Lacquers. Having been...

There is no such thing as an accurate colour.....

There is no such thing as an accurate colour.....

Late War was more yellow!!"  You know, that modeller who insists their colour knowledge is much better than the person who actually built the model. That modeller who will stomp his feet in a huff at a model show because they are right and you are wrong.  Guess what? Everyone is wrong.  There is no such thing as an accurate colour.  "Bullshit!" I can hear you all screaming at your screens right now, but no, it's not bullshit and I'll tell you why. Colour is viewed differently from person to person. Environmental factors such as lighting can wildly change the way colour is interpreted. Try lighting your model with a warm spectrum globe and then with a cool spectrum globe. Before I started our company, I too thought of water based paints as Acrylic. That was what they were labelled as and what they were marketed by. Acrylic, Enamel, Lacquer. The names of the three types of paints that were commonly used in hobby/art applications. The more I researched about how paint is made, what it consists of and how to improve it, one thing was glaringly obvious - the word "acrylic" almost NEVER means water based in industry outside...
